I call this my "poor man's Severin Roesen". If it were a Roesen, I certainly couldn't afford it. It is beautifully done, has an appealing charm to it and the size is incredible, being just under 34" x 50". It is signed "Grace D. Neff". I found a Grace Dorothy Neff who was born in Ohio in 1874 and married in Chicago in 1892 but I can't say for sure that she is the painter. It is on the original stretchers, has a few old repairs and it has a new gilt frame, which unfortunately looks washed out in the photo. This painting is quite worthy of being the focal point of a room and would go beautifully with either formal or country furniture. Dimensions are: Painting....25 1/2" x 41 1/2" Frame....33 1/2" x 49 1/2" $ 11,500. |
