RARE EARLIEST PAINTING SHOWING A SOLAR LAMP

Rare Earliest American Painting Showing a Solar Lamp (PA1)
Although unsigned, this rare painting was certainly done by an accomplished artist. On the reverse is the canvas maker's label:

"PREPARED BY O. STEARNS, NO. 9 AMORY HALL, BOSTON"

Stearns was at this address only in 1849-1850. Since the solar lamp was developed in the early 1840's in Philadelphia, this may be the earliest documentable painting showing a solar lamp. Dimensions are: painting 34" x 27" and frame 43" x 36". In as found condition.

$ 7500.
