|
These are two exceptional pieces of glass handblown in one of the top glasshouses in Pittsburgh in the 1820-1840 period. The white looping is an extremely rare feature of American glass from this early period. Note that they both have the characteristic platform-type base associated with glass from this area. The bar bottle on the left was used only to pour liquids and would have had a cork if anything. The decanter on the right was made to store liquids and retains a fabulous original hollow blown stopper (small line in its neck) which is very rare. Glass of this rarity does not appear on the market very often. Dimensions are: Bar bottle...8 3/4" tall Decanter...10 3/4" tall Bar bottle...$ 1800. Decanter...$ 1650. |
