- This pair of mahogany squareback side chairs was made
in New York City circa 1800. The carving is outstanding and there
are no breaks to the back which is very unusual. The attractive
legs are square tapered ending in spade feet. The chairs have
an old finish and great color and are nicely reupholstered. A
chair with an identical back is pictured in "American Furniture,
The Federal Period" by Montgomery, which is the Winterthur
collection, on page 115.
Dimensions are: Height 35 1/2"
$ 4500.
