This beautiful secretary desk is distinguished by outstanding
proportions, wood selection and inlay embellishments. The mahogany
of the case is
contrasted with rosewood crossbanding on the doors and panels
and the flame birch panels in the cornice at the top. Note also
the complex string inlay throughout.
This secretary was made in coastal MA circa 1800. It is in excellent
original structure including all the original glass panes. The
brasses are replacements. The finials have age but may be replacements.
