- This classical mahogany recamier must have been a custom
order for a young lady or, perhaps, to fit in a special place
in a home. In any case, it is the only one of this small size
that I am aware of. It is only 42" in length but, because
it is normal seat height, it is comfortable for any adult to
sit on. It is finished in beautifully grained crotch mahogany
veneers. The back is also finished so it can be used in the center
of a room. It was made in Boston circa 1820. It is newly reupholstered
in a period reproduction moiré fabric.
