A pair of interesting mahogany shieldback side chairs with tassel-like carving, almost identical to one illustrated in "American Furniture, The Federal Period" by Montgomery, which is the collection at Winterthur, on page 86. Their example is labeled "Stone and Alexander" who were in partnership in Boston 1792-96. Our chairs are in excellent original
structural condition with an old finish and great color.
