This rare étagère is made from the finest
figured solid rosewood and rosewood veneers. To demonstrate the
highest level of craftsmanship, all of the drawers are lined
with satinwood veneer! I have never seen this before. The top
has a beautiful fret carved from solid rosewood, all the shelve
edges are finished with an interesting molding and the bottom
apron has a graceful shape. This étagère was made
in New York City circa 1840 probably by Joseph Meeks & Sons.
It would make an exceptional display stand for porcelains, etc.
