RARE AMERICAN MAHOGANY DUMBWAITER

This is a very common form in English furniture but is rarely seen in American furniture. This example has two leaf supports made of ash, a typical American wood, which indicates that it was made here. It may have been made in New York or possibly Boston in the period 1800-1815. Dimensions are: height 36", diameter of larger shelf 26" and diameter of smaller shelf 19 1/2". An interesting feature is that both shelves fold down like a drop leaf table. The dumbwaiter retains an old untouched finish and its original signed brass casters.

$ 9500.
