- It is unusual to find a secretary made of cherry wood
with cherry wood veneers. This early Hepplewhite example with
square tapered legs is embellished with mahogany and maple inlays
in wonderful patterns. The drawer fronts and the slant lid have
light wood/ dark wood string inlaid ovals. The interior of the
top contains drawers and cubbyholes for storage. It was made
in the CT river valley circa 1800. The proportions are quite
nice as the case is only 36" wide. The depth is 21 1/2"
and the height is 47 1/2". In good original structural condition
with some minor old repairs, replaced brasses.
