This Federal period mirror is distinguished by its outstanding carved gilt embellishments, especially the double columns flanking the mirror glasses. It is of a type that is associated with New York City manufacture in the 1800-1820 period, although some were also made in Albany. It is in almost perfect original condition retaining almost all of its original gilt surface, original mirror glasses and backboard.
