The ceramic teapot and cookie plate were made by the Staffordshire, England firm Mellor, Venables & Company in the period 1834-1851 for export to the US. The teapot is decorated with transfers representing the arms of the following states: DE, MD, MA, MS, NY, NC, PA and VA. They are charming.
